A trade hasn't signed yet. What now?
3 min read
Open the trade row on the project. You'll see the current state at a glance: Pending, Invited, Signed or Vetoed.
- If they're still Invited, a quick phone call usually does it.
- If the invite didn't reach them, use Resend. The most common cause is a typo in the email — correct it on the trade row first, then resend.
- You can Revoke an invite at any point before sign. That cancels the active link so a new one can be sent.
- Magic links expire. If yours has, just send a fresh one.
What "Vetoed" means
If the row shows Vetoed, the trade opened the link, read the declaration, and chose not to sign. They'll have given a reason, which is recorded against the row. The row is then locked — you can't reinvite the same trade for the same declaration. Address whatever they raised, then add a new trade row (which could be the same trade or a different one) and start the invite again.
What the trade actually sees
The email comes from a buildstandard.com.au address, with the subject line naming your business and the project. Inside there's one button to open the declaration. They don't need an account and they don't set up a password. Knowing this helps when you're describing it on a call, especially if they're checking spam.
If the email shows as failed
If the row shows the invite failed to deliver, the address is usually wrong by a letter or two. Update the trade's email and resend. If it keeps failing, ask which inbox they actually use day to day — some trades have a personal address that works better than the one on file with their business.
